What are the prerequisites for renting a vehicle?
You need the following documents:
1. A driver’s license, made out in your name and your home country
2. The driving license must be valid in the rental country (if the driving license is illegible in the rental country, an international driving license must be carried)
3. A valid credit card on presentation
4. An official identification document,
The same documents (driver’s license and ID card or passport) are required for an additional driver.
You will need a second credit card at certain stations and / or a utility bill issued to the same address in the last three months for luxury vehicles. Please inform yourself before renting at your station.
In most countries, a vehicle is only rented to drivers who have reached 21 and who have had their driving license for at least one year. Unique cars, off-road cars, convertibles, and sports coupés are only rented to drivers who have had their driving license for at least 3 years. When renting a truck from group 3, the driver’s license must have owned the driver for at least 2 years. These age requirements may differ in other countries. In some cases, there is a surcharge for young drivers.
For online reservations, you will find the requirements under the rental conditions of the respective country. During the reservation process, you can book the fee for young drivers together with the vehicle under “Add extras.” You can find out more about the conditions in your rental country here.
If you use a voucher with a value or the note “Group Days Apply,” we need a credit card for the outstanding fees such as extras, fuel, or personal contribution if the rented car is damaged or lost.
What do I have to consider when picking up?
In the station:
Have your driver’s license, ID, reservation number, and – if available – your card ready. Check your booking with our staff and sign the rental agreement and country conditions.
Upon request, we can provide you with further information for a pleasant journey, e.g., B. Maps, traffic information, and tips for route planning.
In the rental vehicle:
Before leaving, check that the vehicle is in the condition agreed in the contract. If you find an apparent defect that is not listed there, please inform our representative to avoid subsequent inconvenience.
For safety reasons, familiarize yourself with your vehicle and the route before driving, especially at an airport or downtown. Above all, please check the arrangement of the functions such as windshield wipers, hazard lights and blinkers, and the fuel required for the rental car.
